Data Entry for Manholes |
|
|
The manhole input mask enables you to enter all the manhole related properties like basical manhole data, survey data and cover properties. The observations are entered with a country specific catalogue. Every manhole survey is finally terminated by the indication of the number and position of all the in- and outlet pipes the manhole is linked to.
How it works:
Launch the manhole mask directly from the WinCan mainscreen. There is basically no difference between data entry for sections and data entry for manholes. The manhole mask furthermore provides all the fields needed to automatically create a sketch of the current manhole containing all the measuring values. All the manhole properties entered in the input mask can be printed in a special report available in two different formats. When selecting the landscape format you may even control which database field finally ought to appear on the report by customizing its template.
Product functionalities:
- Entry of manhole information on a separate input mask providing the same possibilities of the section input mask (i.e. assigning photos, recording videos etc.)
- Printing of manhole data together either in portrait or in customizable landscape format
- Adding a sketch at any time for every manhole showing the profile as well as the positions of all the in- and outlet pipes linked to the construction
- Direct control of video recording and On-Screen-Display of text from the manhole mask
Prerequisites for the installation:
- Windows XP, VISTA or 7 (only 32bit versions) with latest updates installed
- WinCan Version 8

WinCan Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Server |
 |
|
This software module allows you to access a server based SQL or Oracle database from a WinCan workstation. The pipe inspection data finally will be stored in a central server database whereas the corresponding media files (photos, videos etc. ) are put into a separate folder on the file server.
Product overview:
Compared to a single workstation license the access to a big amount of data records consisting on several thousands of sections is done much quicker. So engineers dealing with operation and maitenance of pipe networks will be able to look for, to filter and to modify their prefered data comfortably just from ONE single database: sections to be (re)inspected can be transfered to the operators that will be using these reprocessed data in WinCan for further surveys.
This data again can be reintroduced into the central database. Thus pipe inspection data are updated step by step over a large period of time.
Product functionalities:
- Special input mask to access the SQL/Oracle database from the WinCan project manager where the linking parameters of the server can be entered and saved easily
- Automatical creation of project data for survey from a server database
- Automatical restoring of inspected project data into the server database
Prerequisites for the installation:
- Installation of an MSSQL server (Server2008 or SQL Express respectively) or an Oracle server done by a professional server administrator
- Unblocking the server port (e.g. 3047) in the Windows firewall
- The IP adresses of the client PCs and the server must be a part of the same subnet
- A special network dongle must be installed on the server. The corresponding license file must be copied on the hard disk of the server too

|
Create digitized video clips that are automatically assigned to the current section using WinCan compatible MPEG encoders like the PCI card from VITEC or the external USB video capture device from SENSORAY, also known as "MobileCap124".
Product overview:
The MPEG-encoding standard guarantees the best trade-off between quality and size of a video clip. This software module allows you to record video clips that follow the official standards of MPEG1, MPEG2 and MPEG4.
Video recording automatically pauses when opening the catalogue to describe an observation. So the video won't contain any still sequences. Recording continues as soon as the observation has been entered. Depending upon the quality demands you may choose three video quality levels:
MPEG1: good quality, constantly low bitrates (small file size)
MPEG2: very high quality, constantly high bitrates (large file size)
MPEG4: high quality, variable bitrates (medium filesize)
Product functionalites:
The corresponding MPEG encoding cards can be purchased directly together with the WinCan software. The following devices are supported:

On Screen Display (Textgenerator)
|
| |
|
This module is providing the possibilities to communicate between WinCan and various types of text generators that are taking control over the text being displayed on the video screen. This text becomes a part of the videoclip and acts as a unique identifyer for the recorded pipe video.
How it works:
The module OSD hardware allows WinCan to directly communicate with 35 types of text generators. You therefore become more independent from the hardware of a wide range of manufacturerers. Select the current text generator in WinCan and define the text to be displayed at the beginning (section data) and during recording of the videoclip (project bar). All the functionalities of the different text generators are supported by WinCan. The OSD bar located at the lowermost part of the WinCan main screen contains a set of buttons allowing you to control the text to be displayed at any time (e.g. distance counter, date, time, inclination etc.). The position of the different text elements on the videoscreen can be modified as well.

Temperature measurement |
 |
|
Temperature measurement is done with a special built-in sensor of the camera or crawler. The temperature values gathered by the crawler and transmitted to the PC are finally saved in a textfile within the WinCan project. The displaying of the temperature curve related to the inspected pipe section is based on that textfile.Temperature measurement is especially important to prove the hardening of a liner after pipe rehabilitation. The result of the measurement may be printed out in WinCan as a diagram and sent to the client as a part of a pipe inspection report.
Product functionalities:
- Polling for the Temperature measurements and saving the values in a database
- Reporting of the Temperature graph on a PDF
Prerequisites for the installation:
- Windows XP, VISTA or 7 (only 32bit versions) with latest updates installed

Crack-Width Measurement and Deformation Measurement |

|
|
These two modules allow the measurement of crack sizes on the pipe wall as well as local pipe deformations. The measuring methods are based on photos. If the observation catalogue requires values for the width of cracks and for local deformations you may directly calculate them from photos taken from the video signal. Use the reference lines displayed for that purpose and get the value calculated with a few mouse clicks. Finally this value can be saved on the photo and be printed out with the inspection report.
Product functionalities:

Inclination |
| |
|
Inclination values gathered by the built-in sensor of the camera crawler are captured by WinCan and written into a file. Displaying the inclination curve is based on this text file and is strictly linked to the currently inspected pipe length. Inclination measurement provides a diagram that is able to visualize the inclination course within a pipe section. The inclination diagram is calculated exclusively on the basis of the raw data gathered by the camera. Its purpose is to clearly show any relevant difference to the ideal inclination course of the pipe. The client finally gets a useful instrument to assess the inclination course of a pipe section.

WinCan Map2008 |
 |
|
WinCanMap is able to read section and manhole data from ESRI Shape Files. These sections and manholes can be selected in the map area of WinCan Map 2008 and transfered into a WinCan database. The correct assignment of the GIS fields to the corresponding WinCan database fields can be configured. Thus the data exchange is possible with nearly every GIS.
How this module works:
Select an area of sections that have to be inspected and transfer the pipe data into WinCan. So time consuming typing of all the section / manhole data is no longer needed and typing errors can be avoided.
WinCan and WinCan MAP are fully interactive: After transferring all the data just highlight a section in WinCan and get it displayed in WinCan MAP. A section selected in WinCan MAP on the other hand will immediately be shown in WinCan.
Product functionalities:
- WinCan MAP is compatible with the generally accepted SHAPE Format (SHP). So it doesn't matter which GIS the data has been exported with.
- The interactivity between WinCan MAP and WinCan allows you to check the status of the inspections and to compare the data obtained during a survey with the data provided by the GIS.
- The assignment of the GIS fields to the corresponding database fields of WinCan can be saved for further use in future MAP projects.

WinCan 3D |
 |
|
Product overview / advantage for the customer:
The lateral pipelines located on private properties can be shown with one click as a 3D drawing. The geometry of the pipes is calculated and displayed automatically. So time consuming manual drawing of plans belongs to the past. The 3D drawing created by WinCan 3D displays all the main pipes together with the corresponding lateral pipe they are connected to. Rearranging the pipeline network according to a map that is layed beneath allows getting a close-to-reality image of the inspected drainage system. Highlighting a section in WinCan is leaping to the corresponding pipe in the 3D view and vice versa. The 3D graph of the pipeline network can be rotated and moved to select an aspect you want to take a picture from. This one can finally be printed out as a part of the inspection report. Additionnally you may export the 3D graph as a DXF file (compatible with CAD software).
Product functionalities:
- Main pipes and lateral pipes can be inspected separately and finally be connected to each other.
- Full interactivity between WinCan and the 3D view.
- Digitized 2D maps can be layed beneath the 3D drawing for better orientation within the pipeline network in relation to its surroundings.
- Horizontal and vertical rotation of the 3D drawing when keeping the mouse wheel key pressed.
- Manual correction of bend and connection angles directly within the 3D view using an additional pipe rotation button.
- 3D visualization of pipelines AND manholes.
- Export of the 3D drawing in DXF format.
Prerequisites for the installation:
- Windows XP, VISTA or 7 (only 32bit versions) with latest updates installed

WinCan PhotoAssistant |

|
|
The PhotoAssistant allows to measure objects directly on the LiveVideo image (bends, connection angles, diameter of lateral pipes, waterlevel, etc.). It works with reference lines displayed and layed over the photos. The lines can be moved or squeezed by sliders in order to match perfectly the pipe structure elements lying beneath.
How it works:
With the userfriendly interface of the PhotoAssistant the calculation of values required by the catalogue can be done fast an easy: the user is getting the corresponding reference lines needed for accurate defining of branch angles, bends, or surfaces (e.g. in case of root intrusions). The value calculated in the PhotoAssistant is automatically transmitted into the corresponding field in the catalogue.
Once you have calculated all the bends in the current pipe section with the PhotoAssistant you may visualize the whole pipe network as a 3 dimensional structure within the software module WinCan 3D. The latter one has been especially developed for the demands on surveys of lateral pipeline systems inside private properties that are connected to main pipes.
Product functionalities:
- Measurement of the connection angle between main and lateral pipe
- Measurement of the diameter of the lateral pipe
- Measurement of bend angle inside the main pipe
- Measurement of the distance between two points located on the pipe wall
- Measurement of a surface in the profile layer (e.g. root intrusions)
- Measurement of a distance in the profile layer (e.g. joint displacement)
- Measurement oft the waterlevel inside the main pipe
Prerequisites for the installation:
- Windows XP, VISTA or 7 (only 32bit versions) with latest updates installed
- WinCan Version 8
